Who is Ply Gem Windows?
Ply Gem was founded during World War II by 27-year-old Bernard Hewitt. Hewitt started up Ply Gem in New York in 1944 by purchasing plywood crates for twenty-five cents and reselling the wood at a profit.
Through hard work and determination, he eventually got into the plywood manufacturing business. Postwar economic growth generated a massive demand for plywood and other building products.
As plywood sales increased, Hewitt diversified his business and products. In the early 80s, Ply Gem caught the eye of savvy Wall Street investment specialist Jeffrey Silverman.
Silverman had an eye for spotting potentially successful business investments. It was only until 1986 when Silverman acquired Great Lakes Window, an energy-efficient replacement window manufacturer, that windows by Ply Gem began production.
Revenues skyrocketed from the $55 million mark early in 1980 to $384 million by 1988. For over 70 years Ply Gem has been a leading national manufacturer and distributor of specialty home improvement products.
With a broad range of quality products, Ply Gem windows offer you everything you have ever wanted for your home and more. Not only are they stylish, but they are designed to be energy efficient and suit a variety of budgets and unique requirements too.
